It has been reported that Nadal Hasan weapon of choice was the FN five-seveN USG a highly specialized and efficient armament that is not in current military service. The FN 57 is the specific weapon of choice for the presidential protection detail for the Secret Service, also the FN has limited use in several SWAT teams. So specialized is the purpose for this gun, ammo is next to impossible to obtain, with the armor piercing round only being available to select police and government services.
What is the importance of focusing on the weapon and not the individual? By choosing the FN 57, and extremely efficient tool in design and purpose leads to the conclusion that the shooting was premeditated and planned. Fact two, Hasan also carried a revolver or wheel gun, this is also telling in that the only reason to carry an additional weapon aside from the obvious (shoot more people) is if the FN 57 were to jam a back up would be readily at hand. It is not know if Hasan procured the armor piercing shell, that has not been released, but if so, given the fact that this specific round can penetrate the best body armor available, is low recoil, and can cycle 900 rounds per minute further adds to the mounting evidence that the attack at Ft. Hood was clearly a motivated terrorist attack.
More information is being released each day which clearly supports the notion that Hasan’s motive was to send a clear message in his personal Fatwa to the radical Islamic community, also clear is someone or some agency dropped the ball on Mr. Hasan and good men and women were killed or injured due to this oversight. Mr. Hasan actions were no different than the attack of 9/11 just a different venue, and before we can all live as brothers in the utopia the current administration is trying to create, many more senseless deaths will take place due to ideological and religious differences, I suggest it might be time to pray to our individual gods rather than kill for them.

Your last phrase so well done.
My theory is that the FBI wanted Hassan to play his game just a bit longer to catch as many fish as possible. I think the Military may have been in on it since there were a million and one reasons to dump him out of the service. They also wanted to ascertain if there were any other servicemen hooked into the network.
All of the above said, this is war. During wartime, you have to often suspend some of the greater freedoms we enjoy. During WWII Japanese were interred. That’s a bit severe but I don’t think it is outside the realm of common sense to fully investigate military that are of middle eastern origin AND some others as well.
I think of Iraq and how an Iraqui opened fire on sleeping servicemen.
I think of Afghanistan where recently UN troops and staff and a couple of Americans were killed by the Taliban. Afghani soldiers took 2 /12 hours to respond to their cries for help.

Well, I understand that Hasan had connections to the WH – DHS. Now that we learn that he had an FN 57 (which is choice of weapon for secret service), then that might be a clue as to how he got that weapon.

PS – the Iraqi who opened fire on sleeping American servicemen was in the Iraqi military and had fought along side of them.

Samhenry, first and foremost I love the new Avatar!!
I am sure the FBI and the Military were aware of Hasan’s leanings, and activity on the internet, but I would have to disagree that he was being covered, or watched, if he were, he would have been taken out the first reach for the his pistols.
I am also a bit suprised at your comment about internment for suspects at a time of war? The price of our freedom was felt again the day of the shooting, and I am willing to pay that price, you cannot lock up all your fears, half of the country would be in jail and certainly all of the politicians, head on a swivel was the old saying, and never get too comfortable.
The story is yet to be told on this, several other things happened the day of the shooting, some procedure some not, I am looking into that and will post when I have an idea of what or why what was done was done.

Hey Arlene, I hear you on the weapon, I tried to lay out the fact that Hasan’s choice of weapon was highly odd in one respect, and a little too coincidental in the other. They have the paper work on the purchase which was legal, and the authorities were notified as they always are in certain profile cases. So the powers to be were well aware Hasan had the FN 57, as well as the 357 he carried. What is curious is what was the real motivation to giving him so much rope, this whole thing could go down as a huge blunder, or something much more devious, more on that later…

Interesting information, K.
With more information now forthcoming, Hasan the Assassin was being monitored by the CIA/FBI for a year for his email exchanges with a top Al Qaeda recruiter in Yemen, a former Imam from a Falls Church Mosque which Hasan the Assassin frequented.
That Hasan the Assassin is a domestic terrorist is now clear… the coverup and enablement by the CIA/FBI/Department of the Army of what and who he was… that he was allowed to purchase weapons knowing who and what he was… is now dropping like an anvil on the powers to be as to culpability in the assassination of American Troops by an Al Qaeda linked radical Muslim.
Heads better roll… and changes made to stop pussy-footing about offending Muslims and avoiding action against those who are enemies of the US.
There are innocent Muslims and non-innocent Muslims… to let the radicals be shielded behind a leftist Politically Correctness Shield is costing lives.

Hey VF!! The political correctness of commentators on if this was a planned attack or terrorist attack is bizarrrrrrr!! This shooting at Fort Hood was a planned, structured attack, down to the weapons of choice, short of carrying a P90 with a 300 round clip, Hasan could not have chosen a better weapon to kill, and then throw in a 357!!!
Someone’s butt is gonna get canned over this one, I hope this was a mistake or poor judgment on the behalf of the FBI or DOD, because if this slipped by as a non threat, time to review that policy!!!
