Now that Obamas first year is behind us, and hopefully his benign payback to the lefts hopey changie agenda a specific focus on what the real problems are and how the political community is to blame for our economic woe’s.  In a report that was released in the heat of the health care battle this summer, the committee on oversight and government reform deftly pinpointed the smoking gun to the current economic crisis and the players involved.

Not surprisingly numerous high level Democratic and Republican names  litter the pages of the 28 page tome on how Fannie Mae and Freddy Mac’s involvement with the help of the well placed politicians and lobbyist’s practically guaranteed the bursting of the housing bubble.  The conclusions and sub text further cement the fact that neither government or politicians are capable of managing any enterprise without getting their pound of flesh.

Also within the pages of the report the names Barney Frank, Chris Dodd, Bill Clinton, Peter Orzog, Countrywide, Larry Summers, Rham Emanuel, and lastly Chuck Shumer.  Ironically for the exception of a few names these individuals have been tasked with “cleaning up the mess from the past”.  In pure political form the ones who created the mess are now the brave souls who will right the ship with the newly proffered Financial Reform bill now in the house.

The report, which can be read here, spins a tale of, cooked books, favoritism, outright tortuous interference, and copious amounts of cronyism all happening in full site of the regulators tasked to prevent such fraud.  The report shows that the proper regulatory oversight was in place but was cajoled, manipulated, and threatened to turn a blind eye to the political infighting.  This fact is highly relevant in that with the proposed “Financial Reform” legislation now being discussed by the very same offenders of the past policy is nothing more than a political game of propaganda to detract from the real causes of the failure of Fannie and Freddie Mac.

If you read the 28 page report (you should)  you gain an understanding on how the machine works, also evident is the prevailing attitude that the politicians cared little about expanding home ownership, but were more interested in placating and expanding their voting bases.  The pandering, back room deals, and favoritism shown in the Fannie and Freddie downfall  add to the continued mountain of evidence that government should not be involved in the management of any free enterprise, and without the threat of failure, accountability or fiscal restraint it came down to not if the GSE’s would fail but on who’s watch.

As we usher in a new decade “fundamental change” in fact must take place, but where that change must be fostered is on the shoulders of the people, the followers must become the leaders no longer accepting the hollow promises of our politicians rote.  The genius of the American system of freedom is we “currently” have choice, we just have to become better at remembering that key fact and put it to work, or we all will be learning Mandarin in due haste.

Now that 2009 is coming to an end, (without a list) what better time to take a moment and reflect on three key issues, one, where we were, where we are, and where are we going.  I am keeping it simple, I need the brain cells, they will be purged later tonight.

WHERE WE WERE:  Start date 9/11/01, newly elected President George W. Bush is interrupted during a junior high school function in Sarasota Florida, the message, Sir two planes have flown into the World Trade Center buildings.  Thus starts the “Evildoer” period of our history, with great emotion, public and political cooperation and a bit of revenge our country went to war, first Afghanistan, then Iraq.  Under the guise of patriotism the Republican party and its leadership choose to increase spending to untold levels while our men and women in theater drove in, basically de-yuppified Hummers offering the same protection against attack as the bought on the lot gas sucking bright yellow blinged out pimp mobiles so prevalent in the days of excess of the early decade.  But wait, WMD, although it is reported in certain circles that Sadam did have mass stores of chemical weapons, not being as dumb as he was made out to be Sadam got rid of all the evidence in the build up of the war.  You want proof!!  Nope.

Our Nation became weary when the made for television “shock and awe” turned out to be more awe shucks they are still shooting at us, and with the death toll of our brave soldiers mounting, Osama Bin Laden’s prophecy that America does not have the stomach for a prolonged war  began to ring true in many politicians agendas.  Thus created the “Big Lie” which is where we are.

WHERE WE ARE:  Circa 2006, due to mounting tension over the Gulf War’s and President Bush’s insistence we are fighting to protect our nation, the previously toothless Democratic party capitalizes on the Nations discontent and the attacks begin on Republicans who supported the war and it’s high price allowing the Democrats to recapture the majority in congress, Nancy Pelosi is nominated speaker of the house and the search for a viable Democratic candidate begins for the 2008 presidential election.  Enter Barack Obama, a slick talking, bright, made for prime time candidate sponsored by the far left political machine, with the financial support of another George, and the Hollywood dream makers in tow.  So efficient was this trilogy of handlers they sold 53% of the voting American public on the notion that our candidate “is different”, change is coming, and hope is not lost, the great government machine of the liberal party is here to “fundamentally change” Washington.  Knowing Obama could not get elected with his platform one click right of Karl Marx, they made one up!  Even the most strident of hopeyness followers are now questioning that decision. But it worked.

In less than one year our government and its debt have grown to unfathomable levels, a 10 month fight over the ‘need” for health care reform, (a promise and a debt to be re-payed to the trilogy) has taken precedence over all issues.  We were scared into a Stimulus Bill, closing of GITMO, a cadre of Czars, attacks on the First, Second, Fifth, Ninth and Tenth amendments, we all own numerous banks, and a couple of automobile companies, and have blank checks waiting for both Fannie Mae and Freddy Mac!  So the moderate candidate Barack Obama is not so moderate after all, but one promise was kept, our way of life has undergone “fundamental change”!  Now our nation is broke, in debt to levels that will never be paid, the division between Democrats and Republicans has never been wider, fractional groups within the two parties are forging their own way further distilling public opinion to unworkable consensus, we as a Nation of people are faced with a mighty challenge, and we the people will have to meet that challenge, read on to “where we are going”.

WHERE WE ARE GOING:  my finely polished crystal ball is smoking from this question, but in short, “where we are going” is up to the people of this nation.  Regardless if you are a strict Constitutionist, or a socialist left wing Che follower we all have equal interest in how our situation turns out.  Some of the changes that require “fundimental change” are in no specific order.  Term limits, being a career politician is like being a career criminal, the longer you are in the “Big House” the more you learn how to steal, murder, forge, or just plain lie.  Term limits would greatly assist in returning our country to its constituents, lobbying, junkets, pork, useless legislation, pandering would all be of less importance if one knew time was limited.  Would we loose some altruistic politicians (oxymoron) yes, would politicians loose the ability to get comfortable, hell yes, time has come and nothing will change without accountability and term limits.

Fiscal restraint, our politicians have to be made aware that efficiency is of  a higher order than unrestrained spending, that to have freedom one has to be free from massive debt, that the government cannot nor was it designed to be the constituents care taker, and that the money our government is spending might be easy to print but for our countries survival it has to stop.  Lastly and key to our future, our country needs leadership, not media darlings where every word is scripted, not defensive cover their ass in BS snake oil salesmen, not megalomaniac power hungry dictators of untruth, not a left or right, but a “just right” statesman with ethics and concern for the history and future of our Union, Polly Anna maybe, but one does have to have hope right?

So as the new year rolls in the key to this whole process is, perspective, with so many cooks in the kitchen via the air waves, internet, newspapers, it is easy to loose sight of the golden rule, “is it right, and would I like that done to me” or the more classic, “do onto others as you would have them do onto you”, FYI, it still works, and it is free.  Happy New Year From Moonbat Patrol

Capitalism: an economic system characterized by private or corporate ownership of capital goods, by investments that are determined by private decision, and by prices, production, and the distribution of goods that are determined mainly by competition in a free market.

The continued bailout frenzy by the Obama administration went on quietly after the markets closed last Thursday when the Treasury lifted the $200 billion dollar cap on allocated funds to Freddy Mac and Fannie Mae, in doing so congress gave the two agencies carte blanche in an effort to fix the failing giants.  Obama’s economic handlers are nothing if not consistent in that they believe throwing  money at failing free market lines of business is the only way to avoid a total economic melt down.  The latest move to shore up the GSE’s is being spun as an effort to kick start the housing market by freeing up liquidity. Once again Obamas attachment to Keynesian economic methodology is his modus operandi in fixing any problem.  But like all other attempts at moving markets by increasing the money supply, the bill eventually comes due and with substantial compounded interest, further increasing our national debt.

Both Fannie and Freddys failure in September 2008 were prior to Obama being elected and can be tied to the overall housing bubble bursting under the Bush administration, but it is important to note the only action to correct the problem by both Geithner and Obama has been to increase the ceiling from the original CBO estimate of 25 Billion in 9/2008  to 200 billion prior to last Thursday, and as of now the latest increase of no limit.

Two issues are blatantly obvious, first, the Obama team had no plan to stop the bleeding at the government “sponsored” (not owned or run) housing agencies, and second by not addressing the housing market early on and in a decisive manner,  the mole hill is now a mountain.

The current situation is so bad at Fannie and Freddy,  the newly (Obama) appointed CEO’s structured their golden contracts to be paid in cash, IE; not stock since neither Michael Williams nor Charles Haldeman have any confidence that the stock will have any value. But don’t fret, both CEO’s were given annual pay raises to 6 million each for their deft management of the failing housing giants. It is also being reported that the remaining managing executives are being paid a paltry 2 million each, hey it’s just paper right?

It is clear that the housing market was dismissed by the current administration for “greener” pastures, like health care, the stimulus plan, cap and trade, and for kicks a couple of car companies. It is also clear that nobody in the administration quite knows what to do with Fannie or Freddy, which if ignored further run off of equity and mounting foreclosures are sure to follow.

A possible reason for not addressing the GSE issue, is it does not serve, unions, the disenfranchised, or the far left political agenda that has a deep seated hate for “greedy Wall Street bankers” of which Tim Geithner was cut from the same cloth oddly enough.   Even though there is a large remaining balance in the boondoggle stimulus bill, the debt for keeping housing alive will be passed to the taxpayer.  Our bill as of today is 60.9 billion for Fannie Mae, and 50.7 billion for Freddy Mac, does anyone have change for a trillion?

The fundamental issue with Obama’s current policy is that it rewards the weak and punishes the strong, or in other words, bail out companies that are deemed to big to fail regardless if they failed on their own accord, and bail them out by using the tax base, the exact opposite of free market capitalism.

America was built on the pillars of trade and free enterprise, our country has excelled in this environment to where we as a nation are one of  last remaining superpowers. This is not by chance it is due to the innovation and freedom allowed to its citizens, if government continues to step in and bailout failing business by sticking its hand in the pockets of small business and entrepreneurs, our economy will be dictated by the massive debt we owe making our share all that smaller.  Not exactly the vision I had for our youth.

Looks Simple Doesn’t It

ObamaCare has managed to pass the first and second hurdles to a final vote, palms have been greased, promises have been made, souls have been sold, time now for the donnybrook, and the final product. Remembering back to the dog days of summer, when the grassroots Tea Party movement was so prevalent never would I have guessed I would still be writing about health care. Certainly more important issues would be on the table by December, we still have rampant runaway deficits, unemployment closing on depression like numbers, and two wars.

The current path of the Democratic party appears to be of the strategy to pass some sort of health care bill before the end of the year. The rush is, first Obama promised, second if ObamaCare drags out too long it will severely damage the Democratic party in the 2010 elections. Most think the Democratic losses in 2010 are a shoe in, but nothing could be further from the truth if the Republican party cannot consolidate the factions within the right side of politics.

Republicans should look at what worked for Obama and steal a page from his campaign, demonize; blame all the worlds ill’s on your opponent, fantasize; if you follow me, note the me, the world will be a better place “I” am here to take care of you, but switch it to, freedom over expansion of  “The Government State”.

Currently the middle to far right has fractioned into individual platforms, the Big Tent is a bunch of Tpees at the moment, and still no clear unifier is standing out.  This is dangerous in that the idea of individual country states of consistent morals and political beliefs could step out of the union.  Not as far fetched or radical as one might think, the preponderance of the monies being spent or will be spent for all this Hopey Changing is going to the core citys or population centers.  Little of this money will find its way into most red states, so why should Omaha have to pay for Chicago’s health care?  A uniter is needed, or at least a good organizer to pull the right of center together.

I am afraid the Republican party doesn’t want to get it’s hands dirty and would rather sit and watch the show from the balcony, therein lies the problem of the entire political process, protect the position. By being focused on maintaining or exploiting power, the battle is fought mostly on defense, with rare opportune moments of attack, or fight for survival. When survival is the highest motive it is consuming, you don’t risk injury when trying to survive, it becomes hard to legislate from a cave.

Back on point, with the asperous relationship of the majority, 60 is hard to come by, the Democrats and Obama have dumped all if not most of their political capital on passing this bill, and to this date we still don’t know what the final bill will be.

But the Obama administration pulled off a minor success in buying the last 3-4 votes, they voted unanimously as a party, this is now their legacy. Time will tell as to the success or damage of this coup, all indications are this bill will be like numerous other government programs, bleeding money, highly inefficient, and unaccountable, just like the politicians who run them.

One year after the election our country sits on the precipice of collapse politically, economically, and morally and we sit in this position due mostly to the policies of the current administration.  Regardless of the propaganda coming out of the White House about the reasons for our troubles, our worsening  situation is clearly attached to President Obama and his leadership to date.

Rather than detract or extol the decisions of the Obama team, it is of higher importance to recognize how by continuing to proceed as we are could result in a national implosion on the grandest scale.

The obvious divisions between the two primary parties has been written on to great length, what is being ignored is the segmentation by the people of the United States into sub-segments within those two parties and how the leadership void within these segments is fueling the fire to further division.  Anthropologically this move is borne out of dissatisfaction with the status quo, which was artfully used by the Obama handlers to push their agenda of “Change You Can Believe In”, the key and dismissed aspect of this move was and still is what this change entailed.

For all intent and purpose and actionable legislation put forth to date, the “change” is not something the large majority of the populace DOES believe in, and by bulldozing ahead with the party’s nebulous shadow policies geared at consolidation of wealth and power for personal and political gain has created  a national animus that is fermenting to unstable levels, and suggestive actions.

We are a nation being run by a minority (platform)  acting in the pursuit of a majority consensus with no clear delineation of public policy,  evading all the while the wishes of  plurality!  Or simply put, we have an administration which THRIVES on conflict and uses that conflict to push its agenda of which is only known to them, and is implemented over the wishes of the people that elected them to serve.

By the Obama team pursuing this tact, a void of dissenting opinion and differing agendas is sprouting on a national level.  This “grassroots”  ideology is consistent in that is is inconsistent, case in point; the rise of the rogue.  If one were to look at the actual definition of the word “rogue” they just might not select it as title of a book?  Forgoing the definition, and looking at which it professes to support, going rogue has been marketed as doing things against the norm, or a return to founding conservative principals, all well and good, but where does that leave the “conservative” who was in place prior to the new definition being promoted as a NEW platform?

The antithesis, or far left point of view is diametrically opposed to the “rogue platform” and just as stridently pushes it’s agenda, “big government is good”.  In between  these two political forces a cadre of special interests and fragmentation’s of thought reside, which further  impedes any national consensus or action, the big tent’s are missing their anchors.

In essence our nation is searching for meaning, this is not new and is a byproduct of founding documents on which we govern, but the difference this time is the disconnect is foundational, is government and its control the answer, or the people for which it stands?

The answer to this question will determine the likelihood of Americas world status for future generations, and although the problems we face are not quite so simplistic, the way in which we solve them is.

Do we as citizens of a free republic abdicate to the wishes of our politicians, or are we a nation OF the people, the decision of which faction will lead the majority to this goal is our choice, the freedom of that choice is not questionable, and the key to our survival as a nation depends on it.

Below lies a list of the existing watchdog agencies tasked with “policing” both the bank and stock market industries.  All of which were in place prior too and during the so called financial meltdown.

Securities & Exchange Commission (SEC)
Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC)
Federal Reserve System
Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC)
Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA)
Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC)
National Credit Union Administration (NCUA)
Office of Thrift Supervision (OTS)

But even though the listed regulators were empowered to quell any type of aberrant behavior, they all appeared to have been sleeping at the switch, or more likely, steered away from pulling the plug on the housing industry which historically accounted for the lions share of the United States economy since 1996.

With the bursting of the housing bubble, a scapegoat was required, enter Barney Frank and Chris Dodd, both of whom share equal blame for the collapse of the housing industry, with their constant K street induced interference.  Rather than do the honorable thing and tell the truth accepting responsibility, both Frank and Dodd started pointing fingers very early on projecting the blame on the evil bankers and Wall street, totally dismissing their own personal culpability.

In typical Washington form, create a problem, blame it on anyone but yourself, then get appointed to the committee to fix the very issue you created.  Not unlike gun control, there are more than enough laws on the books to avoid any future housing meltdown, but they become ineffective when politicians and lobbyist are involved.

Keep in mind that the meltdown in housing began in the Clinton administration, their goal was to open up the housing markets to under-served individuals and fill the void where the Federal Housing Authority/FHA was not taking up the slack. In doing so, along with the creation of risk based pricing structured on credit score tiers, a borrower could buy a home with a score as low as 500. Subprime thrived due to the fact everyone in the world was buying the collateral, each institution was aware of the risk in buying such low quality paper, so were the auditors of the above listed government agencies, if you wish to blame anyone, blame greed, that is the American way.

Now the solution to all the housing ills is to bring all the governing regulators under one roof and appoint the power to one person, very bad idea. Government is not capable of managing any entity of free enterprise, and that is what the housing market is,  government layered on the regulations in the 80’s, so much so that FHA lending became ineffective due to an overabundance of  red tape.

If this bill were to pass, which is not a certainty it will be heartily challenged in the Senate.  History is clear in that further intrusion of  government into the free market system has never succeeded, not once.  Government regulators need to be free of politics to maintain any level of efficiency, the past has shown that even if the regulations are in play, there are too many cooks in the kitchen spoiling the soup.

By creating a bigger watchdog, it just means you need to feed it more, and by all past experience the dog will probably be sleeping on the porch when it’s time to hunt.

LIE “We were forced to take those steps (to jump-start the economy) largely without the help of an opposition party which, unfortunately, after having presided over the decision-making that had led to the crisis, decided to hand it over to others to solve, Obama said, starting his address with a history lesson on the roots of the recession.”

Truth: First the TARP program, which was passed in Congress and the Senate by both Democrats and Republicans, your Fed Chairman Geithner on 2/5/09 had and has control over how to use the funds which is estimated to have a remaining balance of 300 billion.

Truth: American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, this one is your baby, a 787 Billion baby know as the stimulus plan. You put your best man in charge, Vice President Biden, who since February has managed to fund mostly pork laden non shovel ready projects, and has only funded an estimated 21% to date, also least we forget about the manufactured districts and the large majority of funds going to Democratic member districts.

Truth: Your administration President Obama, has managed to run up (at last count) a deficit of 1.4 TRILLION by employing Keynesian economic theory, or better put, a way to justify the democratic spending spree.

Truth: You cannot spend our country out of debt, that sir is an oxymoron to the highest degree!

Truth: You are attempting to pass a health care bill against the best wishes of the people you serve. You state that no increase in the deficit will be apparent, so looking at that statement you want to cover an additional 30 million people who currently do not have coverage, and you can do that for free?

Truth: Since your parties greed overwhelmed the first stimulus plan you passed, and given 80% of the money has not been spent, you want to offer up a jobs program which will cost another 200 billion. Like the health care plan you say the money will come from TARP or TALF, but give the American public one good reason they should believe you?

Truth: Cap and Trade will further burden the United States economy which will be tasked with carrying an additional tax which will have to be amortized off by middle America further increasing cost to produce which will be passed on to the good people so fortunate to have jobs.

Truth: With the EPA and the United Nations in your back pocket you plan on signing the Copenhagen accord to stem global warming, regardless of the actual truth and facts about the reality of global warming, and the latest scam uncovered which certainly should be validated prior to signing any treaty that will harm the United States.

Truth: Your team of inept financial advisers are trying to implement or make law Financial Regulation Reform, when in fact two of the most culpable individuals for the housing crisis are from your party, Barney Frank And Chris Dodd. Their continued harassment, influence and attacks on the lenders to loosen up mortgage underwriting guidelines in fact exacerbated the housing situation. Also by not implementing suggested refrains on the GSE’s as proposed by Republican legislators both entities were allowed to run amuck.

Mr. President, we are past your blame game, it is childish to continue to look for scapegoats, leaders don’t need to blame others, they fix problems, they elicit help, and build bridges not burn them. Mr. President you have been in office close to one year, and all your team has done is run our nation into the ground, by spending the American public’s money unwisely, while continuing to blame others for problems you and the Democratic congress have created, which by the way has had the majority since 2006.

Sir, either man up and get the job done, or get the hell out of the way, I believe we can do much better without your continued lies and half truths!

Great non partisan video!

In less than one year the bloom has fallen off the rose of Obama’s approval ratings, depending on which poll you choose the Obama approval rating is ranging as high as 53% approval (CBS, go figure) to a low of 46% (Fox News, again go figure). Normally when a politicians approval drops this fast in such a short time, a behavior change is evident, but this is no “normal” administration.

The abnormal to this presidency is business as usual and a continuation and pressing ahead with their Cloward-Piven strategy of manufactured crisis. I am not the first nor do I imagine the last to point out the eerie consistency of Obamas administration and the wreck-less ways of Cloward-Piven.  In short Cloward Piven suggests, “In their 1966 article, “that the ruling classes used welfare to weaken the poor; that by providing a social safety net, the rich doused the fires of rebellion. Poor people can advance only when “the rest of society is afraid of them”.

The reasoning behind the strategy calls for, “cadres of aggressive organizers” to use “demonstrations to create a climate of militancy.” Intimidated by threats of black violence, politicians would appeal to the federal government for help. Carefully orchestrated media campaigns, carried out by friendly, leftwing journalists, would float the idea of “a federal program of income redistribution,” in the form of a guaranteed living income for all — working and non-working people alike. Local officials would clutch at this idea like drowning men to a lifeline. They would apply pressure on Washington to implement it. With every major city erupting into chaos, Washington would have to act.

If you look at Obama’s proposed health care, cap and trade, financial regulation, and topical today the Copenhagen climate meetings, add in the Obama’s litany of Czars, most of which either have community organizing backgrounds, or are far outside of mainstream thinking in regard to the tenets of the Constitution, the logical conclusion is our nation is being run by a far left radically thinking administration, who’s goal is to implement the above mentioned strategy to its fullest no matter what the polls show.

The roots of Cloward-Piven were germinated in another well know radical agency ACORN, which began to spear head in 1982 the “voting rights movement”, “Project Vote”, and “Human Serve” all of which was tasked to register low to moderate voters who in past elections did not turn out to vote. Not a coincidence Obama began his community activism in the ACORN organization, and beat the streets for the ACORN platform, and assisted in the “Motor Vote Law” which was passed into law by Bill Clinton in 1993. It is key to point out that the money behind the expansion of ACORN was none other than the Open Society Institute also called the Shadow Party, which was run and funded by George Soros.

None of this information is new or startling, what is untenable is the fact that Obama’s ties to ACORN and Soros were common knowledge during the election but were dismissed by the major media, now labeled the “lamestream media”, which constituted the third peg or leg in the implementation of the strategy. Due to Obama’s Baptist preacher oratory style, taken from both Rev Wright and the far more honorable Martin Luther King, Soros and the far left had their media angel to begin the process of spreading the wealth and furthering the divide between the haves and the have nots.

The one variable, and possible saving grace is Obama and his handlers overestimated Obama’s star quality, where he still is popular as a person, the Obama administrations policies continue to drop on almost a daily basis, clearly showing that words and actions of this radical team do not match, and people are catching on. Great damage has been done, deficits, jobless rates, and costly legislation continue to hamper the American way of life, but the hope and change that was sold to a wanting populace is now being recognized as the greatest political sham of all time.

The truth will come out as to the motives of Obama and his cronies, and in this authors opinion history will not be kind to our current President, for he is accountable for his actions, and the people are starting to see, the thrill is gone.

President Obama was highly critical of the Bush administrations actions in Afghanistan while campaigning, statements from he and his handlers placed an emphasis on “the forgotten war” and how Afghanistan was the real war, so much so that the administration has painted themselves in a corner as to potential options. Now seven months after announcing a new direction in the Afghan war the President is sending an additional 30000 thousand men and women into the fray.

The move to increase troop levels and follow General McCrystals lead is being seen by the left as a critical mistake further dividing Obamas dwindling support base. But the real question is, what is the end game or expected outcome, or put simply the goal.

Note Afghanistan has been at war now for some 2339 years, dating back to 330BC, so history has a big role in any potential outcome.  The latest effort to bring stability to the region, albeit Communism was Russia,  least we forget history that war lasted from 1979-1992 and both the outcome and the byproduct of the invasion bankrupted Russia and assisted in the Democratization of the former Soviet Union.

The ostensible reason for the last administration entering through “hells gates” was to quell the Islamic Jihad against all infidels led by Osama Bin Laden, or in political terms, gain control by installing a puppet government, and gain a military foothold in the region.  All of which was pursued at great human and economic cost, and to what end?

The inside joke among my military sources is “the only way to win a war in Afghanistan is turn it to glass”, since that option is not politically nor morally possible, why are we sending our solders to fight a war we cannot nor need to win?  Not used to hearing this from a conservative?  Let me digress,  Afghanistan’s economy is based on two staples, one is opium, the second livestock, sheep and goats, not exactly the spoils of war one would hope.

The total GDP for the country in 2008 was $12.8 billion, with 53% of the population being below the poverty line, the citizens of Afghanistan have nothing better to do than to fight given these numbers.  Ahhh but what about the terrorists hiding in the hills, and the threat to Americans?  We might want to spend time worrying about Pakistan and Iran who either have or are developing nuclear capabilities than spend another dime on the war in Afghanistan.

It is easy and arrogant to say from our comfortable surroundings that we need to be involved in this war, but the facts and truths are apparent, read on.  The terrorists that were operating out of Afghanistan have long left the area, most of which have either scuttled into Pakistan or Syria, and a small amount to Iraq, they have more resources in any of the three countries listed and except for the most wanted can blend into the populace with ease.  With the cost of the increase in troop levels, the United States is spending (roughly) three times Afghanistans GDP to quell the Taliban and Al Qaeda militant presence, a hefty price to pay when you add in the loss of lives of our most precious resourse our soldiers.

After last nights speech is is clear that the Obama administration is attempting to be all things to all people and in the process is alienating their base on the left with the escalation, and enraging the right by placing a time limit on the action.  Also covered and glossed over was the time the Obama administration took to come to the compromise decision, Obama stated, “we did not have any official request for troops, so no deadline was present”.  To approach the lack of action by hiding behind legal dogma is second nature for Professor Obama, who consistently runs to the law library to either support or defuse his actions.  This process is seen by  Obama’s enemies and opponents as weak, a very dangerous precedent to set.

One has to wonder when it takes an additional 30000 troops for a total of over 100000 troops in country to overcome the Taliban and Al Qaeda threat.  One also has to wonder when we basically tell our enemies that if they can survive the surge we will exit the conflict in as soon as 18 months.  A short period of time when you consider Afghanistans long history of war and warrior culture.  Time to cut and run Mr President, leave the job to our special forces, our money would be better spent if it were targeted at bringing the country out of the dark ages, because until a self sustaining economy is created mitigating the need for war, Afghanistan will be at war, it is their culture.

The decision to hold the 9/11 trials in New York is playing right into the hands of the terrorist who see our Nation as the preeminent cause of universal evil. The Obama administration under the guise of bringing the “evil doers” of the 9/11 attack to justice, are covertly trying to place the blame on the Bush administration and distract the nation from it’s dovish stance. Due to the law of discovery, and the differences between a military trial and a civil trial the prosecutor will have to release any and all information gathered supporting the charges since detention of the offending members.

The Obama administration is willing to deal with the blow-back and anger that will be surfaced by the highly visible trial in an effort to further cement there cause that America is the great devil and Obama is here to change that perception by holding the military and anyone else who stands in their way accountable. So basically Obama is saying regardless of due cause and clear reason, under his leadership they will not stoop to the level of the last administration in the protection of the United States, even if our sovereignty is in danger.

Clear message here? You Betch YA, and every single Americans threat level will be increased by this selfish grandstanding by the Obama administration. With the onset of this trail we are, one showing the enemy our methods of counter intelligence, and two setting a new baseline for the rules of war. The obvious byproduct of this action is it will empower every nut bag with a truck of fertilizer and a drum of ammonia to attack our sovereignty without the fear of retribution.

The administration will offer the production and access to the world stage by utilizing the full power of the liberal press and its voice. This kind of attention cannot be purchased on the cheap, and now like everything else in this administration the access will be provided for free by the growing bureaucracy of Obama’s vision of the United States government. In other words turn the tragic event of 9/11 into self serving political theater.

The hypocrisy is clearly evident in that the most recent terrorist attack by Nadal Hasan at Fort Hood was addressed by Obama himself with the following comment, “President urges Congress to hold off on shooting rampage investigation, asking lawmakers “to resist temptation to turn this tragic event into political theater”.

The transparency and motives of the new administration are becoming clearer each day when the individuals in charge will attack the efforts of the CIA, military, and the past administration for there actions in a time of war on one hand and then protect a Muslim terrorist attack on our soil by using the office of President to steer opinion!

The continued inconsistency of words and actions of the Obama administration continue to puzzle its ardent admirers, and incite its critics, and most damming of all, empower it’s enemies.    The lack of action, right or wrong in Afghanistan further adds doubt as to what or who the United States is and for what it stands for.   This clipping of the eagles wings is creating hope and change in the terrorist community, and grounding the Nation by its weakening of the standards and morals that built our freedom.  War is never fair, nor do the actions of individuals fit into a neatly defined box under its duress, by the metaphorical “dropping of our pants” to the world stage we further endanger our status as the paragon of freedom, that my friends could be the end of us and the U.S if allowed to continue..
